Presentation: Monumental: Animating Oral History as Creative Memory Activism at University of Jyväskylä, Finland – Nov. 29, 2024

Happy to let you all know that I’ll be presenting next week at The 9th Annual Finnish Oral History Network Conference: Memory in Movement: Pace, Connection & Introspection at the University of Jyväskylä.

I will be delivering a paper, entitled “Monumental: Animating Oral History as Creative Memory Activism,” that uses the Heritage Toronto walking tour, “Monumental Interventions” that I developed and presented over the summer, as a case study for examining the role of gesture, rhythm, and movement in animating oral history in place. The paper also addresses walking tours as creative and interventionist forms of mnemonic activism.

We are looking very forward to travelling to Finland and meeting new colleagues.
