Bata Shoe Museum Walking Series Thank-Yous

WOWOWOW! A huge and wonderful miigwech, maarsĂ®, and thank you to everyone who came out to Sam Howden and I’s three weeks of walking events at the Bata Shoe Museum!
This month has been a wonderful opportunity to build new relationships, meet new people, have some engaging and challenging conversations, share our knowledge, and of course, walk together in the Land and to learn from it! It was such a pleasure to see so many folks, especially so many educators and community knowledge-keepers, out for these walks even on the rainiest days!

I’d like to take the opportunity on behalf of Sam and I to extend our gratitude to the staff at Bata Shoe Museum, including Jordan-na, Amy, Adrienne, Shan, who made this all possible, and our incredible walk assistants Ingrid and Will who kept the groups together, well fed, and hydrated.

Special thanks goes out to our partners Ellie and Enrique for their love, encouragement, photos, and time keeping.

Extra thanks to Rebecca Tisdale-Macias for the incredible professional documentation, and to Professor Justine Woods, who helped begin the initial conversations that made it all happen.

In the meantime we’ll be looking forward to the opportunity to work with Bata to bring these popular programs on Land acknowledgement, and urban toponymy , along with new walks, back next summer. For now enjoy these wonderful photos of the walks.
