CRISP: Creative Research Intensive Summer Program

This summer I was pleased to play a primary development and coordination role in the launch of CRISP: The Creative Research Intensive Summer Program. This program was developed by myself, in partnership with my Media and Design Innovation (MDI) PhD colleagues, Stephen Severn and Deanna Armenti, along with faculty and staff from MDI, TMU’s School of Image Arts, and The Creative School. CRISP allotted space at ArtspaceTMU for six practice-based PhD students to transform our gallery at 401 Richmond St W. in Toronto, into a living, open studio, workshop, and artist residency.

Over eight weeks CRISP residents engaged in regular peer-led critiques, developed their dissertation projects, and attended workshops, studio visits, and guest lectures from visiting artists and thinkers, including Tricia Enns, Ashley Jane Lewis, and Claire Greenshaw. They also worked with ArtspaceTMU staff to coordinate a month-long exhibition in September 2025, showcasing their research outcomes from the summer.
